Financial protection

Package holidays sold in the UK must have financial protection if the organiser becomes insolvent. Flight-inclusive packages are generally protected through ATOL; non-flight packages may use a bond, insurance or another permitted arrangement. Other services, such as accommodation-only or transport-only bookings, may not have the same protection. Ask what applies and check your confirmation.

ABTA membership also means

• The protection of the ABTA Code of Conduct for an eligible UK booking.

• Access to ABTA information and assistance if a current member may not have followed the Code.

• A two-stage dispute route, including independent arbitration in eligible unresolved cases.

Keep the documents. Retain your confirmation, receipts, ATOL Certificate and supplier terms. These show who your contract is with and which protection applies.
